UN.Gift Campaign

We are excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with a number of UNH Departments and student orgs to host the UN.Gift Box on campus from April 19-23. The GIFT box is a creative awareness raising project launched by STOP THE TRAFFIK and the United Nations Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking (UN.GIFT) at the London 2012 Olympics. The UN.GIFT Box is a 7 foot sq professionally built interactive display that looks like a giant present on the outside. The box mirrors the deception used to lure individuals into slavery and offers visitors a chance to walk inside and discover stories of survivors of human trafficking and modern day slavery from around New England. Deb O’Hara-Rusckowski, RN, MBA, MTS, Member of United Nations NGO Committee to Stop Trafficking in Persons will be joining us in Durham on April 12, to train the volunteer team who will staff the display throughout its time in Durham. If you or your organization would like to find out more about the project, get involved, attend the April 12 training, or come out to participate in the campaign while it’s on campus, let us know through the comments box. You can sign up to volunteer at our UNH site, or other Boston area sites at http://theriversouthcenter.org
