What's Up at Freedom - Introducing Mike Rieder
Bryan: Hi Friends, Bryan here at The Freedom Cafe.
I hope you are well and finding some new routines to keep you grounded in our new normal.
We have been a little off the radar on social media - And wow, there’s a lot to share - so stay tuned, we will be rolling out more consistent posts and helping you stay involved in the fight to end human trafficking!
At the moment we’ve been working behind the scenes to set up a safe space for all of you to connect with us at the cafe. Check out our expanded patio seating area, walk up order window and socially distanced indoor space. We are looking forward to sharing some new conscious consumer resources with you this fall, hosting outdoor Perform for Freedom events and online human trafficking 101 trainings.
I want to take a minute to introduce you to a long time friend of The Freedom Cafe and our new Cafe Manager, Mike Rieder. Hey Mike, can you share a little history, how’d you get involved at the cafe, what you’ve been up to since graduating UNH? and what’s bringing you back?
Mike: Hi, I’m Mike Rieder and I’m the new Freedom Café manager. I became involved with the Café in 2013 when I co-ran sound for Perform for Freedom and continued to do that for the next 3 years. I also take credit for Septemberfest (whether I deserve it or not is debatable). After I graduated UNH in 2016, I moved to Colorado for 3 years and Bar Harbor for about a year, with a few stops at my parents in Massachusetts along the way. After years of trying to understand what the search for maturity entails for me, I was drawn back to the Freedom Café. The café taught me that I can make a difference in this world with something as small as a consciously sourced cup of coffee (a perfectly weighed, timed, and balanced cup, of course). So, now I’m back to make a hands-on impact and enjoy the Café community while I’m at it.
