The Scoop on Good On You - Good On You is all about fashion and helping you make informed choices about the companies from whom you buy. You can search their directory for any major brand and you will discover an overall ranking from: "We Avoid, Not Good Enough, It's a Start, Good or Great" as well as further details on where they are strong or failing.

Brand Rankings are based on, "brand and parent company reporting, robust third party indices (eg the Fashion Transparency Index and CDP Climate Change and Water Security projects), and independent certifications, accreditations and other standards based systems (like Fair Trade, Cradle to Cradle, OEKO-TEX STeP and the Global Organic Textile Standard). We collect over 500 data points per brand across more than 100 key sustainability issues, indicators and standards systems. We weight third party sources according to their scope (the issues they address) and the quality of their assurance (how well they ensure brands comply with the standards that have been set)." - www.goodonyou.eco/how-we-rate

Good on You was founded in Australia and recently merged with UK based non-profit, Rank-a-Brand. That in mind, they have ranked most major brands, however a draw back is that you may not find smaller US based companies in the directory (though you can make a request for them to rank a new brand). And, many of the "Great" ranked companies listed have limited product availability in the US or require international shipping.

Here at The Freedom Café, we have consistently found that the US lags behind Europe in seeing Conscious Consuming as a collective value of consumers and companies. It's important to remember that companies are market driven, and we, the market, need to demand change! Thank you for joining us to demand change one purchase at a time!
